Thursday, July 23rd FAMILY DAY (Bread & Honey)
Go on a scavenger hunt to find the treasures of the farmers market. Sample Grateful Bread and Heavenly Honey! Purchase any bread or honey products, and be entered in a drawing for a $50 French market basket!

Thursday, August 13th, WELLNESS DAY (Wild and sustainable seafood)
Every half hour, tours of the market with Wellness Coach Jenelle Strine: learn how to choose and combine natural “superfoods” to benefit your health and mood. Tours begin at the Info Tent. Purchase of any seafood enters you in a drawing for a French market basket.
3-5 pm: Ten-minute chair massages by Patty Wilmot of Queen Anne’s new spa Earthly Rituals, and advice about acupuncture and Chinese medicine from Nancy Fiacco-Powell of Bamboo Wellness.

5:30-6:30 pm: Knit In & Give Back! Hilltop Yarn’s Shannon Garcia will demonstrate a quick, fun baby hat that’s a great stash-buster. The best part: you can donate the hat to Family Services’ Baby Boutique and help babies all across King County stay warm this winter. Both newbies and pros are welcome. Bring your lawn chair, needles and yarn — or swing by the Hilltop first, for fresh fiber and free patterns!

Saturday, October 31st – “PORK & GOURDS” HALLOWEEN FARMERS MARKET & STREET FOOD FAIR
3-7 pm: Take a detour from the lollipop-seeking ghouls and princesses on Queen Anne Avenue, and get some great eats on Crockett Street. Minimus Maximus, Skillet, Marination, Kaosamai Thai, Dante’s Inferno Dogs, Patty Pan Grill and other street food vendors will be represented, as well as several farm stalls including Local Roots, Baird Orchards, and Full Circle. Stock up on “keeper” apples, squash, potatoes, onions, etc. for cold weather cooking. This event is a fundraiser for the nonprofit Queen Anne Farmers Market Association.

3-5 pm: Music by The Blair Street Mugwumps (Americana, Hokum, Blues)

4 pm: Pumpkin Pie Contest with judge Lorna Yee of Seattle Magazine and The Cookbook Chronicles, author of the soon-to-be published cookbook The Newlywed Kitchen: Delicious Meals for Couples Cooking Together. Space is limited to the first 10 registrants. To register, please email qafarmersmarket@gmail.com. (As the event is a fundraiser, a $10 registration fee will be collected at the contest.) First Prize is a Le Crueset pumpkin cocotte (cast iron and ceramic casserole). Second Prize is Lunch for Two at Boulangerie Nantaise, the Belltown bakery. Pies will be judged on taste, appearance, technique and creativity.

4-4:30 pm: While the pies are being judged, enjoy fresh “pieku” and seasonal verse by poet Evan Peterson

5-7 pm: Music by RedDog (Appalachian, blues, early bluegrass and fiddle music)

5:30 pm: Creative Costume Contest with judging by the chef and author Becky Selengut, the poet and teacher Evan Peterson, and our own QAFMA member Jonathan Bowman. Adults and big kids (16 and up). Don’t let the little ones have all the fun! Get creative with your alter ego. Top prize is $100 gift certificate to How to Cook a Wolf. For rules and to register, email Julie Whitehorn.
