Some days are better than others for a farmers market, and wow, did the stars align for us today! We’ve got sunshine, marimba music, an all-star lineup in the chef’s tent, the best street food in the city . . . and a pretty awesome (if we do say so ourselves) selection of the best local fruits and veggies, free range chicken and eggs, wild fish, and grassfed beef, lamb and pork. And that’s not even mentioning the award-winning cheese, hard cider, honey, breads, pastries and coffee. Come over and stay a while.
Nonprofit organizations
Space is limited at our market. A group requesting free space must be a non-profit organization offering education or information about market-related or community services. Accepted organizations must:
1. Apply. Please complete a Vendor Application and $30 (see #5 below) and submit to Julie Whitehorn, QAFMA Director. If approved, you will be scheduled or placed on our waitlist. You can view our schedule at www.qafma.org/events.
2. Obtain authorization PRIOR to attending the market. QAFMA staff reserve the right to deny space for any reason they deem appropriate. Note that, for safety reasons, all booths must be set up by 3 pm, and taken down NO SOONER than 7 pm, with rare exceptions.
3. Bring your own stuff: canopy, canopy weights, table, chairs, and weather protection. No microphones are permitted.
4. Limit the litter. We ask that organizations design participatory games, quizzes, or other interactive educational elements to bolster education and help eliminate litter. This should be the requesting organization’s main focus in the booth, with the passing out of literature a secondary option. Those who offer creative interactive relations will gain favor in the selection process.
5. Provide one or two volunteers to help setup and tear-down of the market on participating days. Those who wish to not participate in setup and tear-down may have the option of contributing $30 instead.
6. Look for reciprocity. Priority will be given to market sponsors and groups who support the market’s mission.
7. Follow the rules. Community-space groups are subject to all Market Rules, unless otherwise specified.
